Spring Allergies? Essential Oils to Help You Breathe Freely

Spring is in the air, bringing a flurry of blooms and birdsong. But along with nature’s resurgence comes an unwelcome guest – seasonal allergies. Pollen and mold can irritate symptoms like hay fever and sinusitis, leaving allergy sufferers struggling to breathe freely. Fortunately, there are natural solutions to find relief this spring.

Your Spring Allergy Survival Guide: 10 Tips & Essential Oils

1. Mould Protection is crucial as molds emerge from their winter dormancy with the arrival of spring. Thoroughly clean and declutter your living spaces to minimize dust and debris that can harbor mold growth. Be sure to remove the clothes and shoes you’ve worn outdoors before entering the bedroom, as they can carry pollen and other allergens inside.

2. Pet Owners should make a habit of regularly bathing and brushing their animals. Pets’ fur can act as a magnet, trapping pollen, dust, and other allergens that are then brought into the home. Diligent grooming helps remove these irritants and prevent them from circulating and exacerbating allergy symptoms.

3. Move more by adding a little extra exercise. This will kick start your metabolism and support your lymphatic and immune system. Regular physical activity helps flush out allergens and toxins, while also reducing inflammation that can worsen allergy symptoms.

4. Sweat it out by visiting a hot spa or take an Epsom salts bath. Your skin can sweat, which is a very effective detoxifier. Sweating helps flush out allergens and toxins from the body, providing relief from allergy symptoms.

5. Alkalize your body by starting the day with a glass of lemon and hot water. Squeeze some lemon juice into hot water to cleanse toxins and add hydration. Lemon water helps to alkalize the body, counteracting the acidity that can contribute to inflammation and allergy symptoms. This simple morning ritual supports the body’s natural detoxification processes and provides a hydrating boost to get your day started on the right foot.

6. Eat more vegetables and replace animal products with plant based alternatives. This will give your body a break from acidic foods, and help it become more alkaline. Consuming more plant-based foods and reducing intake of animal products can help counteract the acidity that contributes to inflammation and allergy symptoms. By shifting your diet towards a more alkaline balance, you can support your body’s natural processes and find relief from seasonal allergies.

8. Vegetable juice daily made with fresh organic vegies, including dark green leafy ones, like kale, spinach and parsley works wonders. These needed nutrients will cleanse and alkalize your system. Vegetable juices, especially those rich in chlorophyll from dark leafy greens, help to neutralize acidity and support the body’s natural detoxification processes. Drinking a daily vegetable juice can provide a concentrated dose of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to help combat allergy symptoms.

9. Add immune boosters like fresh vegetables and low GI fruits, such as cherries and grapefruit. Eat live active probiotics, which are a beneficial form of gut bacteria, found in coconut yoghurt and kefir, kombucha and sauerkraut. Add foods high in vitamin C like citrus and berries, sulfur-rich cabbage, onions and garlic to boost immunity. These nutrient-dense foods can help strengthen the immune system and better equip the body to manage allergy symptoms.

10. Avoid or cut down on coffee, sugar, excess alcohol, processed foods and chemical additives to help with spring fatigue. Reducing your intake of these acidic, inflammatory, and energy-draining substances can support your body’s natural processes and help you feel more vibrant during allergy season.
