Be Your Own Valentine DIY Blends

We celebrate Valentine’s Day around the world in many countries on 14th February, but the meaning of Valentine’s Day has been lost in commercialisation.

It has come to be defined by being in a relationship, but instead it can be an opportunity to express the love that we are and feel for others, regardless of whether you are in a relationship.

The recipes below support being embodied, accepting and caring for yourself and dismantling any self-debilitating practices, so you can connect more deeply, listen to you and your body and cultivate self-love.

Romantic Blends

Rose damask has epitomised romance, beauty and healing since days gone by. Persian and European royalty adorned aromatic rose oil, with its intense, and sweet scent. Damask rose is revered in the stories of the 1001 Nights as one of the most sensual aromas. The flower’s unique powers have wonderful benefit to all skin types. It is also known to provide psychological and emotional support when inhaled directly, added to a bath blend or diffused into the air. It’s a mood booster that can promote joy and settlement, and support mental clarity.

Romance blends may calm and balance your mood, relieve tensions and harmonise your senses. These warm and sensual blends, often with aphrodisiac properties help you to stop to connect, rest your mind, increase sensitivity and stimulate romantic feelings towards you and others.

  • 3 drops sweet orange, 2 drops boronia, 1 drop cardamon
  • 2 drops lemon, 2 drops lime, 1 drop cedarwood, 1 drop sandalwood

You can either use the drops directly in the diffuser, make a spritz blend with a distilled water and solubiliser blend in a 50ml bottle, (or double the recipe for a 100ml bottle), use in a 10ml roller blend with a jojoba oil as a base, or put the drops on a tissue and have it nearby. I highly recommend labeling your bottles.  I write the name and the recipe blend on it, so I can make again easily.

Making you own blends is a fun way of creating your own unique and signature fragrances, that draw in notes from other oils and add to the therapeutic properties of the blend.
